Frequently asked questions

What is a Physiotherapist or Physical Therapist compared to a Sports Therapist?

Physiotherapists are university trained and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many other areas of sport and health and fitness. These include respiratory, neurological and metabolic conditions like asthma, strokes, diabetes and so on. They are called Physical Therapists in America.

Sports therapists don't just train sports people, they coach for functional fitness, strength and conditioning. They use taping and hands on techniques too. However, their training generally focuses on the muscle and joint systems, and does not include the other systems and associated health conditions.

We have chosen to term our services Physical Fitness Sountions.

What do I need to bring?

At your first appointment we will ask you to provide any relevant medical history. If you have them, bring scan/MRI reports along with any medication list for Physical Therapy consultation. You may wish to bring your footwear if it is an activity-related issue, shorts and a vest top. Otherwise, wear loose, non-restricting clothes. For physical examinations, you may need to undress your feet or down to your underwear with back, neck and shoulder problems. We ask that you hydrate following your visit for toxin release, re-hydration and dilution of inflammation.
